Carefully place both halves of the Game Boy together to make sure everything fits securely within the shell. The ribbon cable will need to be reconnected. Exercise extreme caution when handling this cable. Gently plug the cable into the back motherboard. Using an appropriate screwdriver, screw the Game Boy shell back together. Reinsert the front LCD circuit board into the socket on the motherboard. Insert batteries or an AC adapter into the Game Boy and test it out. If everything looks good, you can begin reassembling your Game Boy following the disassembling instructions in reverse. Source: How to Disassemble a Game Boy.

Gameboy DMG White Distilled Vinegar White Distilled Vinegar does a great job of eating through the corrosion on the battery contacts. All you need to do is soak the battery contacts in the vinegar for a few minutes. You can see the corrosion bubble right off.

I've been working on this for a while now, and I'm almost ready to make a prototype. Basically, it's a replacement motherboard for a DMG that (for now) has an arduinoboy, 7486 XOR 'bivert chip', and easy prosound pads. It doesn't sound like much, but if I can get it to work right, it will be a huge step for further development, like adding different sound chips, or wireless communication... anything's possible, really.

A big part of this for me was that I wanted everything to look and feel just like a normal DMG on the outside, other than some extra I/O and a button or two. A lot of parts must be harvested from a DMG motherboard to make these, such as the link port, power switch/jack, volume pot, RAM, CPU, op-amp, cartridge connector, and screen connector. This is just my personal preference, and of course anyone making their own could use whatever they wanted.
